Pros

flexible hours (in the call center anyway) and great pay for an easy job.

Cons

upper management and direct managment talk down to part time employees and treat us like we aren't part of the company. Pretty much no communication between departments and often within. There is a "points" system for employees making it impossible to even take a sick day without penalty.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

look at employees as people and not numbers.

    Pros

    Not a lot of layers between you and upper management
    Good health benefits
    Still have some good general benefits.

    Cons

    Arbitron used to be a company that prided itself on employee satisfaction. When the recession hit, that went away very quickly. Also, they are reliant on the radio industry which is a shrinking rather than growing industry. Arbitron is aware of this and is trying to diversify into cross-platform space but it has been very slow going. Overally, they are not a horrible company and they do value their employees but relative to what they were~ they aren't doing great. If they start succeeding in a space beyond radio, they may become more employee focused again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Seems to really like 'yes' people. Because questions are asked doesn't mean that they are "against" you. Move faster.

    Pros

    Great training program administered by excellent trainers. Opportunity to work with gifted and enthusiastic co-workers. Pleasant environment to work in.

    Cons

    Repitition of tasks and working split shift late in the evenings could be difficult. Little opportunity to get up, stretch

    The call center could be overly loud sometimes making it difficult to concentrate on the task at hand and hear responses.
