    Pros

    Fun environment
    Flexible
    Lots of Smart, Top-Notch workers

    Cons

Used to be better without Danaher
    Danaher made the company politically-charged
Hard to break into if you don't know anyone in the company already
    Limited product line
Lack of training and career growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR should focus on how to cultivate top performers and pave a career path for them. Listen to what we want to accomplish and not just say we have a career path, but also allow us the opportunity to gain training to get there. Pay for our certifications/education, so we can compete for higher level roles that you are looking externally for.

I worked at Arbor Networks as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I was an intern soon after the acquisition by Danaher. The engineers were great (seemed pretty satisfied), and the company culture was good too. There was obviously a bit of concern about what would happen as the company got integrated into a bigger company, but people seemed relatively encouraged by what the were seeing (ie good management, little intervention from on-high). Flexible hours and paid well, at least as an intern. The code base was well-documented and code reviews were taken seriously.

    Cons

Most new jobs seemed focused on the D rather than R in R&D, so that may be a positive or negative depending on what you're looking for. But that's probably to be expected given the maturity of the company, so it's not less R than most similar-sized or larger companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Personally I think agile development is overrated, especially for systems software. While it may be useful for people working on UI, I felt it was being pushed a bit too hard on teams for which agile methods aren't the best fit.
