    Pros

Good people to work with and not a lot of pressure to perform. Take it easy and no problems, try to fix issue and you have problems.

    Cons

The company is poorly managed at the US site,, its a large dinosaur. The global focus is not on the USA operations. Second, the union is involved all major and minor decisions. They run it.

    Pros

Steelmaking is an amazing process. You will see things you can't see anywhere else. If you enjoy powerful machinery and don't mind getting your hands dirty then you will like this place. The steel industry has a great history in America and workers are proud of what they do. The industry is much more stable than it was 15 years ago.

    Cons

Can be very dirty, noisy, dangerous in the mills. You must be aware of your surroundings. Since they consist of several companies they bought out over the last dozen years, there is a lack of uniformity. Different sites are run differently, use completely different computer systems (can be a nightmare to find the engineering drawing you need), and employees act as if they are still working for the old companies. This is something they are working on though. There can also be problems with the union and management. Many union guys are awesome but a few take advantage of the system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep working on creating one culture across the company. Work on your relationship with the unions. Be respectful but demand quality work. There is a lot of waste that can be cut - carelessly damaging equipment, ordering unneeded equipment, hiring outside firms when people inside the company can do a better job cheaper, too much overtime, etc.
