Former Employee – worked at Arena Pharmaceuticals

Pros – Flexible company. You are able to balance family and work well. Benefits are good. Stock options are ok. Since it is a smaller company you get to know and interact with many people including the CEO. You are not pigeonholed into one job function and are able try new things. This will greatly expand your resume. There IT department is Fantastic!

Cons – Corporate Politics. There is just too much of it. Check out this book "Games at your work". Upper management does what they want and do not take your opinion into account (they try to make it look like your opinion counts but it doesn't). Project prioritization is poor, constantly shifting.
Low salary. Raises are poor.

Advice to Senior Management – We are all trying to achieve the same goal. Don't compete to see who can do it better or faster. Rather, work together and communicate information it will avoid duplicated work.
