very poor experience. testing and dev are not separated. it is natural for the managers to play with people's profile.

I have been working at Aricent

Pros

Flexi timings. no formals required. Can't remember any other good experience to which aricent has contributed. overall it's a bad experience

Cons

managers do not hesitate to play with people's carrier. in some business units, people are moved around testing and development teams. Some times they are even asked to do work of an operational engineer.

People responsible for initiating the new projects (STL and above) are highly incompetent. they are old timers who worked once on C and never explore other technologies when a project comes (C++ is untouchable in large part of the organization, most of them have not heard of design patterns)

no respect for employees. transport department of admin is more corrupt than a government organization. bus service is run at employee cost and employees are constantly threatened that bus service will be stopped. employees feels that aricent is serving to its vendors rather than to its customers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

try to diversify in areas other than telecom. improve compensation. try to show some respect for employees. For particularly sudip nandy: commenting on yammer that aricent is company without caste but not without class do not help. What class we are talking about if employees have to face constant humiliation and red tapism in IT results in the frustation of our customers. If you ever get time, do look into the accounts of transport dept.

I have been working at Aricent

    Pros

Excellent supportive teams to work with.
    Good infrastructure and working environment
Telecom is an excellent and challenging domain to work in. At times you feel proud of the quality work you are doing

    Cons

    Bad and irresponsible HR division.
Team management not good enough. Teams have to struggle very often lack of vision and decision making.
Not enough encouragement or recognition for the effort put in.
Not enough salary for the quality and amount of work one does. For the same quality and amount of work in a Product company one would easily be getting atleast 1.5 times the salary.
No effort put in to curb attrition. No effort on managers part to try to retain employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Humans are not just another resources .... they are in fact the most important ones.

Current Employee - Senior Technical Leader in Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

I have been working at Aricent

    Pros

A Good Technical team , technology and customer base. Good exposure to Engineers on Technology front.

    Cons

There is a general trend within the organisation where people with 15 years and 7 years are all holding the same position. A person should be in Management only after 12- 15 years of solid working experience. A) Company has an advantage to have good technical people benefiting the customers, B) With good working experience comes a rich and better technical and people management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be business oriented but should be technical oriented as well and need to have better interaction with technical teams.
