Pros

Great work/life balance and for the most part a relaxing work environment.

Cons

Salary, opportunities for growth, etc. Who you know now what you know is rewarded.

unwieldy organization with visionary leader at odds with his board

    Pros

innovation, independence, opportunity. dedicated to "massive change"

    Cons

underfunded, emphasis on inclusion rather than excellence (both pro and con)

    Advice to Management

include your underlings in the planning of the work they will have to shoulder. senior people don't like to be dumped on.

    Pros

Flexible schedules, intelligent coworkers, intellectual freedom, self-governance. A strong community of individuals who are in their business in order to make a difference. Constant opportunities to learn and grow.

    Cons

Rare, if ever, pay raises. Politics within a university structure are strong, and issues with tenured professors and long-time staff run deep; people get stuck in ruts, and defend them until the end.

    Advice to Management

Current policies to limit salary increases for internal candidates for higher-level positions are going to contribute to a major brain-drain.
