I worked at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time (more than an year)

Pros

there is a lot of chance to advance within AAFES and the people working there are generally of the same background.

Cons

A lot of people move which is great when you are trying to move up but aggrivating when you have to get a new supervisor.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize you have to work with the people you have and when you are new they might have a good grasp of what is going on more then you

I have been working at Army and Air Force Exchange as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

The salary while deployed is excellent. Base salary is about 32K but there is a 25% bonus for 1 year deplyment, 20 hours of overtime a week, and in war zones there is a (total) 70% incentive plan. In one year the pay equals about $85K.

    Cons

The labor force (non-American) in deployment is treated like slave labor. They work over 60 hours a week for crumbs. AAFES pays the contract companies well but the contract companies stiff the workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Level the playing field between MPA companies and better compensate the associates. Stop giving all of the managerial jobs to MPAs and sending the Americans home.

I have been working at Army and Air Force Exchange part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    It a job.
    Vacation is good
    Health benefits are ok

    Cons

Management sucks because they get no training, they are hard to talk too, they rarely round. People who have been at the company longer run the store. Management doesn't back you up with customer nor follow policy. The pay is low at a entry level and hard to move to the next level or has regular part time and full time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop cutting hours for the people who do the work for the company.
