Far as trucking companies you can do better else where!

Super Regional (Current Employee) Tunnel Hill, GA

Pros2012 Tractors comprise 80% of the fleet mostly Peterbuilt 587's some KW's and cascadia's for team/ trainers. Trucks are high tech; adaptive cruise control, blind spot camera system, collision avoidance system( automatically brakes for you in dangerous situations) electronic e logs.Reasonable benefits costs. Excellent shop service. Use of all USXPRESS terminals

ConsRude dispatchers with customers and drivers, They treat you like your a robot dispatching you one day on a day load the next one night so you will always feel tired because your body cannot adjust to this variation. Try to get a dispatcher on the phone takes an act of god expect 15 - 20 minutes to talk to one. Dispatcher to driver ratio about 1 to 45. You'll spend half your time chasing empties in order to get a load, by the time you find one the load will be pulled out from under you so you sit and wait for another, Most lengths of hauls are 350 to 450 miles you'll average about 2200 - 2300 miles a week at .33/mile. Most loads are heavy 39,000 to 46.000 which leads to the reason why they are using are using 587 MIDROOF Petes to haul heaver loads. These trucks HAVE NO ROOM for drivers who want to be out 2 - 3 weeks or longer at a time. Home time: out 11 to 14 days = 2 days off, out 4 weeks = 2 days off, out 4 months = 2 days off, out 4 years you get 2 days off. NO JOKE! Driver navigation system sucks you will get lost using it. Want a 1500 watt inverter to run your micowave FORGET ABOUT IT unless you have a medical need. Trucks run 64 mph so you will not be passing to many other trucks on the road.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement you tell everyone that the drivers are the most important asset of the company. So why do you stick 80% of the drivers in mid roofs with no room. And you home time policy is barbaric. You are so concerned with safety that you buy all the highest tech equipment for the truck but you dispatch drivers on day's then the next load night's so how is our body to adjust to this? No wonder there are so many tired drivers ie accidents it is not all about HOS. Have you ever heard of circadian rhythm. Why dont you try working one day then take 10 hours off work nights then take 10 and then work days, do it for 14 days and then tell me if you feel tired. And fix the driver tech navigation units, everyone at Arnold knows they are not reliable and told not to use it, so spend the money and fix it! AND maybe you'll get better on time deliveries because the drivers can find their locations.

For a trucking company, it's not a bad place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Camp Hill, PA
