I have been working at ArthroCare full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Living in Austin, the people who work there are really nice, the offices are nice and have a gym so it makes it convenient. Depending on what division you work in, there is a fair amount of teamwork present so you are constantly interacting with different people.

Cons

For being a relatively small company, product development is really slow and bureacratic. The company is struggling to find a culture since they have moved to Austin and is stuck in this weird limbo. Executives have somehow managed to create a weird division between the 3 groups with ArthroCare so sometimes you feel unnecessary tension. Career development is non-existent which is dissapointing for anyone hoping to learn on the company's discretion.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so disconnected from your lower level employees. It's incredible the amount of desicions that are made with absolutely no input from those who truly know. People work really hard to have the right information to make a good decision and they are even kept in the same room. Some of the biggest mishaps could be avoided if you were better listeners.

I worked at ArthroCare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Arthrocare has the ability to launch new products at a rapid pace. As with all companies in the medical device industry, the changing compliance requirements from the FDA is keeping us on our toes. There are some good leaders and some not so good managers.

    Cons

The closure of the Sunnyvale California site will separate the company from the medical device talent that is needed to sustain long term innovation, but it was a business decision that management is willing to endure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting people that just can talk louder and focus on the real leaders of the company.
