I have been working at Ashford University full-time (more than a year)

Pros

good pay, fun people, good coffee, professional work environment, continual training, lots of overtime.

Cons

Same thing over and over again, very difficult job, people who were good used shady enrollment techniques that do not reflect the universities value on ethics.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think management does a good job of trying to continually train employees. Its a hard job mentally so you just need to be prepared. Its tough to get a job so its definitely a viable choose.

I worked at Ashford University as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

The Writing Instruction Specialist team was an excellent group of professionals to work with. They provided guidance and workshops, and they were always available to help the teaching assistants.

    Cons

Ashford is going though a re-organization to maintain their regional accreditation. This means uncertainty and upheaval. I would not discourage anyone from working for AU - but, be mindful of what may lie ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't see how AU benefits academically from terminating 800 TA positions. These employees are trained educators and are concerned about the best interest of the students. They were always striving to help students through the educational process. Currently there is one Writing Consultant position listed externally...
