I have been working at Ashford University full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good Co-workers. I've met some great people who ultimately move on from Ashford once they get their MBA etc or with the economy returning.

Cons

For the most part the management staff is a bunch of shady mortgage brokers that went bust in the recession. If your manager or director as been there 5 plus years then chances are they are in the good ol' boys club when there was a matrix and enrolled anything with a pulse. They bought their accreditation...

Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to restructure their management and fire many mid/upper level people.

I worked at Ashford University as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Great students; plenty of opportunities to interact with students and to implement your own curriculum enhancements; good support staff

    Cons

No guarantee of employment, and a tendency to phase out positions without much warning. The elimination of the Teaching Assistant position was a disservice to students.

Ashford University provides quality online Bachelors' degrees, but has little or no regard for employees.

I worked at Ashford University full-time

    Pros

The university provides employees with good insurance benefits. The facilities are clean and uniform, all cubicles are identical. Most of the equipment furnished is new and up to date.

    Cons

Production is foremost requirement, contrary to mission statement. Employees are managed through fear of being fired. Management considers every employee as disposable and treats them as such. Very hostile work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Happy employees are productive. If your organization is going to require loyalty, you must first be loyal to your employees. If employees are treated with respect, they will respond respectfully.
