Pros

Still some potential for certain job categories. Software engineers are the most valued. If you work in an area they need, you can negotiate a decent position and salary, depending on where you live. There is still some advancement possible for top performers.

Cons

Aspect sales have been slowed by the world-wide economic downturn and by the fact that they face some very tough competition. Their flagship product is having problems with quality and with meeting the release schedule. They suffer from being a company that has grown by purchasing other companies and trying to build their central product by kludging acquired products together instead of creating an integrated product from the initial design. They are much more focused on profit than on the welfare of their employees - many have not had a raise in years.

Advice to Management

Place more value on the employees. Encourage employees to get training so that they can move into areas valuable to the company and compensate them for improvements in their capabilities. Do not micro-manage so much.

    Pros

Beats unemployment. Flexible hours. Work is enjoyable. People I work with are the best, with the exception of one. Lot's of team work in our group. But this is only true because this group existed BEFORE Aspect bought the company.

    Cons

Company I worked for was acquired by Aspect. Aspect Management has NO idea what we do. (Training). Best part is they have no intent of finding out what we do. With that type of management, where does your job go? Probably out the door into the bit bucket the next time they need to reduce costs. Only problem is our group makes MONEY! Unlike the rest of the company

    Advice to Management

Wake up! If you are going to buy something, then use it. And to use it you need to know how it fits into your mix of business products and you need to know what the people are doing.

    Pros

Flexible work hours and very low amounts of work.
Incompetence is tolerated without any punishment, so its a good place to work for under performers.

    Cons

No recognition for talent, no salary raises. Management believes in socialism, whether one is talented or not, whether one works hard enough or not, employees only get a bare minimum raise(if lucky) just to keep up with inflation...

Middle management is ineffective, incompetent and worthless.. they never listen to any suggestions and opinions from employees, they keep repeating same mistakes again and again.

Recently senior management has taken a great deal of initiatives for changing the direction of company.. initiative like customer 2.0, next gen, great place to work etc.. however they failed to realize that without fundamental change in employees mindset and internal processes none of these initiatives will be effective...

    Advice to Management

    Here are some suggestions..
    1) Fire 50% of current middle management and hire new competent people in those roles.
    2) Incorporate efficient performance management processes for employees and start recognizing the talent, by giving them good salary raises, promotions etc.
    3) change the corporate culture, with engaging employees, you need to have employee 2.0, before starting any initiatives for customer 2.0
