I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

you get half off your dental work

Cons

Hours are not very good, work till 8pm on Tuesdays and 1 saturday a month. Only 6 holidays per year. Have hired many upper management to work in Corporate in Syracuse, but limit your raises to 3% a year and 4% if your are an excellent employee. If your Regional Manager doesnt like you, you have no room for advancement.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize the employees in the offices are the ones who are paying your salaries....without them you wouldnt have a job. Offices making $125,000 a month in private practice would be considered successful, but at Aspen, since they have about 400 corporate employees, this is considered a unsuccessful office.

I worked at Aspen Dental full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It is very difficult to think of positives surrounding my previous management position. Full time employees were provided with options for benefits...

    Cons

Terrible hours. Focus was constantly on numbers and money. Very little compassion and care was ever provided. We were trained to focus on quickly seeing large numbers of patients and selling large treatment plans. We also pushed financing treatment with various healthcare lenders. You could never directly contact someone at corporate and always had to go through an area manager - for everything from requesting maintenance when light bulbs needed replaced and carpets cleaned to contacting their "call center" with an issue. They were not efficient with management or communications. Left my position feeling very used.

I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    You will receive a paycheck.

    Cons

Success is not enough. The mission statement has been abandoned. Micro-management in concentric circles. Promises not kept. Dentists with far bigger egos than skills. Patient care cannot be achieved by trainees!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read your mission statement. Get back to it. Empower the production staff, rather than the cost-center staff. Experienced techs are forced schedules by OM/PSR greed, that produces lower quality
restorations for patients in a life-changing situation.
