Too bad that zero stars is not an option because this company does not deserve even one.

I have been working at AspenTech full-time

    Pros

The coffee machines have been upgraded and they are now stocking real tea bags in the coffee rooms instead of the pouches. The use it or lose it vacation policy has been change and you can carry over 5 days.

    Cons

Abusive behavior by managers is is not only tolerated but encouraged and rewarded. Now that the employment market seems to be picking up, turnover has increased. Employees are doing phone interviews in the hallways, building lobby, and in their cars. Managers rationalize the increased turnover by saying that employees are leaving because they can't take the pace when the real reason is that they don't want to continue working for an abusive company. Don't expect that higher levels of management or HR will do anything. The higher levels are the ones who reward these managers and HR won't do anything because they are too afraid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management does not want advice. They will only wake up when turnover begins to really hurt, no one will come in to interview and they end up with temps and contractors.

    I worked at AspenTech

    Pros

    - Great Products
    - Industry Leading Customers
    - Great Opportunities to Apply Industry Leading Solutions
    - Still Some Very Smart People Working There

    Cons

    - Management Team doesn't connect to proven success model in Manufacturing IT
    - Your True Talents won't drive your career in Aspen, the Customers will appreciate it, but Senior Management is likely to skewer you on a whim.
    - The best way to get ahead is on the corporate management team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to developing a stable of industry leaders; Understand why other suppliers don't have the problems you have supplying to the same customers. Why replace Managers who leave do to lack of success with people that are going to do it the same way?
