I have been working at Associated Press full-time (more than a year)

Pros

- upper management really listens to your ideas and wants to take action
- offered a tremendous amount of autonomy and independence
- not micromanaged
- fair pay
- great bennefits
- having The Associated Press on your resume

Cons

- though upper management is interested in your ideas, there is no mobility or budget to do anything to follow through on ideas
- incredibly dated company that is having a hard time modernizing to the digital and social media age
- feel like I am stuck in a bad office sitcom from the 90's
- as a younger employee, I am an anomaly; most of the workers are middle aged, no youthful culture
- you are frustrated everyday by internal and external systems and the lack of resources to really have an impact on change

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- continue to be transparent and upfront about the realities of projects. The worst thing that can happen is to be promised a huge project that will create change, only to have it ripped out from under you because the communication higher up fell through.
