I have been working at Atlassian full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Fast growing and stupidly successful software company provides a lot of interesting projects to work on, and there are a ton of talented and interesting co-workers

Cons

Growing too quickly; poor management and communications, and salary for some departments is below average.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to focus on growing your employees instead of hiring from outside; new management tends to cater to other or senior management and not work with their subordinates

    Pros

Great people. Great office in San Francisco. Flexible work hours. It's relatively easy to move into new roles. Very little politics.

    Cons

Salary isn't very competitive. We aren't pushing the boundaries of what's possible with technology in the same ways that Facebook, Apple, and Google are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We attract smart and fun people, but I can't say that I've met anyone who is the in the top .01% of people in their field. All of these niche experts seem to work elsewhere, which makes it hard for us to do some of the cutting edge work that other top-tier tech companies are famous for.

I have been working at Atlassian full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The bene's are good, the culture is great, but really, the best part of Atlassian is the ability to network with nearly everyone in the company. It's very few companies where you can just walk by the CEO's desk and ask them about business strategy or criticize big company decisions and keep your job.

    Cons

The hours seem to get rather long at times... not incredibly so, but certainly greater than 9-5. Compensation seems a bit below average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't get trapped in metrics. Remember the values that got us here, and don't miss the forest for the trees. Don't get wrapped up in making the numbers if it means screwing over customers or jeopardizing the culture
