The laid back culture ensures a less stressful workplace, but means lower pay & a slower pace of internal growth.

    1. Less stressful. Does not feel like a rat race.
    2. Nice people, engineers.
    3. Great location for commuters etc.
    4. Lots of old timers
    5. Less politics than other companies.

    Cons

    0. No clear career path or performance plan for employees
    1. Poor pay, unless you are a new executive
    2. Until recently, there was very poor vision & visibility for engineers regarding technology
    3. Lots of old timers means things don't progress as quickly. Organizational inertia.
    4. Poor communication between groups

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Show a clear vision to your troops.
    2. Pay and treat your engineers well. Your engineers will ensure your success, not your executive staff.
    3. Start a mentoring program, a career leadership program...something to boost your employee morale and show them a career path at Atmel
