I have been working at Atmel

    Pros

People and the working environment are generally friendly. Company is heading the right direction to focus on its core technologies.

    Cons

There is no formal or informal training and performance development of staff. Management do not communicate issues and significant events on time.

Procedures and controls need to be improved and enforced.

Some management promotions seem to have happened due to the relationships they established with senior management, depsit their lack of ability, experience and commitment to hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Performance reviews and promotion creteria need to be defined. Promotion should be transparent.

Invest in staff training and development.

CEO should not micor-manage, and does not need to get involved with the hiring and performance reviews of everyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With the movement of jobs to Malaysia, how will the US economy recover. Investing in automation, upgrades and effeciency could help reduce overhead cost. Steve Laub is driving a $500K car, how does that make the employees feel with lay offs. Some one is thinking of the overall good of the company
