I have been working at Atria Senior Living full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Maybe it's just here on Long Island, but the employees here are treated with respect and given many great opportunities. The company promotes from within. They also have many giveaways which have recently included tickets to Six Flags and a Kindle Fire. The pay is on par with similar places.

Cons

Needs better system for advertising job openings on the lower end. I'm just not a big fan of advertising on Craigslist. Sometimes takes a little too long to hire people when in need. I should note, however, that this problem lies with most corporate jobs. Having to go through the interview process, drug test, background check and TB test take time.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work.

Current Employee - Resident Care Department in East Greenwich, RI

I have been working at Atria Senior Living part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Speaking of Harbor Hill facility, the facility itself is beautiful and most staff is considerate, respectful and professional.

    Cons

DRAMA! Most especially the resident care staff (nursing staff). Involved with petty gossip and causing trouble for some and some others that are not are usually "stuffy". Some that have been employed there for years are the "bosses" and make their own rules, while the real management sits back and may even cheer them on. Only a select few in this department are humble, kind, and compassionate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Step up and be responsible with the position you are in. Stop allowing these unskilled, unprofessional employees being even your boss or step down so Atria can employ a real and effective management team that can guide employees in becoming their best.

    Pros

There seems to be constant turnover, so I suppose if you're looking for a job, there's probably one open now or to be open soon

    Cons

What is going on with this company? They are constantly replacing managers, as well as everyone at every other level. The same management positions come up in our market, Northern California, every couple of months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do people quit or do you chew them up? Either way, it's a terrible that you're in the business of "caring" for people and can't keep your employees happy
