I have been working at Atwood Oceanics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Small size allows responsive management and authority usually comes with responsibility, as it should but unusual in drilling contractors.

    Cons

Small size means limited resources. At times people get overloaded but since they get to make a difference most are ok with it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't sweat the small stuff, nobody gets everything right every time, just keep trying your best.

I have been working at Atwood Oceanics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good training provided, crews help each other and there is a lot of support from technical departments. Pay is better than industry standard, 401k is excellent and so is healthcare benefits.

    Cons

penny pinching of some upper management can run off some good people. Communication on important details to the work force is vague. People in positions where they are not competent as the management training says they should be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that the rig crew are what make a good rig run and can make the company a lot of money. Without them there is no money for the office staff. Keep the rig crew happy and secure and everyone benefits.
