I have been working at Auction.com, LLC full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Industry and potential could be exciting, if under different leadership
Pay is above market, need to seduce others away before firing them a few months later
Strong talent, but regular revolving door as folks leave...either quit or fired!
Google investment, until they wisen up...

Cons

The company is a technology "wanna be" but don't have a clue. Executive leadership, whilesome have impressive pedigrees, is the worst I have experienced and a constant revoving door. CEO lacks formal education and has never run a technology company, rather a real estate person who made his money during the economic downturn of distressed properties. Disingenuous. His team are figure heads only, no one empowered because CEO calls all the shots, to include who he likes and doesn't like (at a complete whim I might add, no rationale, just decides he doesn't like you and wants you out.) President has never run a company, lots of costly mistakes, lack of focus, direction and strategy changes, poor alignment - all at employee's expense. Terminations and layoffs part of the culture, without rationale or a conscience. During the recruiting process, they say what they need to lure you away from a successful company/career, and just as quickly change direction, transfer you/fire you and leave you hanging, without remorse or a second thought. We have seen this over and over and it is hard to work for a company that can treat our peers so poorly. I just have lost all trust and confidence.

As a result, little respect, commitment and the good employees are looking for new jobs.

Seriously, this company doesn't have any integrity, doesn’t care about employees, we are completely expendable. Here today, bye bye tomorrow.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

No more lip service, actions speak louder than words. Get CEO out of the way and hire professional, experienced executive management that have proven experience running and growing a company.

Former Employee - Senior Leader, Commercial Real Estate in Irvine, CA

I worked at Auction.com, LLC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Lots of growth
    2. Disrupting the marketplace
    3. Core vertical (commercial real estate group) has really great, intelligent, nice people working who resemble a team
    4. That's about it

    Cons

    1. Company is run by senior leaders who may clinically have Schizophrenia (I will expand)
    2. Senior management is involved in day to day minor details, even though he has hired qualified leaders to do the job. He is involved to the point of reviewing and signing off on simple expenses (ridiculous)
    3. Senior management has an army of folks who dont actually think for themselves and just take marching orders. They often defy logic in terms of how they process their day to day functions
    4. Senior managers are masters of delegation, and do not actually do much work themselves. This way, they appear as they are always doing something but actually don't do much other than take work done by others and stamp it with their names
    5. Things change every day, every week, or every month. Again, senior leaders have what appears to be Schizophrenia so random people can sway the company's trajectory and plans over night
    6. No transparency. Changes in title or pay seldom happen. And when they do happen, it takes almost 6 months and sign off from several layers of senior management. It's absurd and miraculous to see the engine keeps running with so much red tape and ridiculous bureaucracy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust the people you hire. The senior leaders do not need to be involved in approving expenses, or other minor details. Cut out the culture of Schizophrenia, delegation, and senior leaders who have nothing to do so they probe into the work of others to justify their jobs. The company has (had) much potential. If you actually have a come to Jesus meeting and realize these things, perhaps the company can get on solid footing again. Otherwise the downward spiral will continue

    Bonus paid at 50%

Current Employee - Manager in Irvine, CA
Current Employee - Manager in Irvine, CA

I have been working at Auction.com, LLC full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Some work life balance here

    Cons

Google invests $$$ yet our bonuses were paid out at 50% and THEN we don't get paid our Q1 bonus on time. I have worked here for 5 years and this is the first time that I was paid out at 50%. Already staff morale is low, there is no communication regarding bonus payout until two days before, the company is spending tons of money on parties and celebrations yet cut out bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit telling your employees that they are the most important piece of the company and then not pay their bonus as expected.
