I worked at Audax Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Exposure to all facets of PE business. See a lot of deals. Decent CV-builder (although less so now than 5 years ago). If you're political, you can carve out a niche for yourself and guarantee a spot through the VP level (when they really begin to weed people out).

    Cons

Toxic culture. No work-life balance (even by PE standards). Culture is very lord-of-the-flies and animal house. Think "Monkey Business," the DLJ tell-all book. Well-below-market compensation. Very little growth opportunities w/ consistent fund size and investment approach

  2. Audax Group PE is a great learning experience, but an underpaid, toxic culture sweat shop

I have been working at Audax Group full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I am a current investment professional at Audax PE. You learn a ton because you do so many deals. MDs are generally highly competent.

    Cons

Horrible hours, absolutely awful culture. Senior mgmt does not care about junior employee-- no development of staff, cut-throat culture, obscene hours, and no emphasis on morale or culture. Junior team members were refused the ability to con-invest. So not only are you underpaid relative to market and to the hours your work, you no longer can put any skin in the game.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
