Former Employee - Parts Sales Manager in Atlanta, GA
Former Employee - Parts Sales Manager in Atlanta, GA

I worked at AutoZone

Pros

There are not many good reasons to work here. If you like auto parts and high pressure sales environments, then this is the place for you. Employees do receive a discount, and you will be paid for the time you work.

Cons

There is no upper managerial support towards employees. Managers at the store level are not empowered to make changes or enforce discipline. The focus here is on micro management from the district level. Expect to be given unrealistic sales goals and to see people who have no managerial experience or ability become your peers or supervisors. Promotions are given on a whim and are put into effect by district managers who will never actually witness your performance first hand.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit throwing your front line employees under the bus.

I have been working at AutoZone

    Pros

    off time whenever requested
great customers most of the time
    20% discount

    Cons

If sick you must have a doctors note saying that you where HOSPITALIZED. Meaning the only way you could miss work without consequenses is only if you were admitted into a ficility.

They show favortism with advansing. This company takes "its not what you know, but who you know to another level."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If someone shows they are worthy for advancement then you should give that to them. Race, friendship and favortism should not be factored into professional growth. If the customers can see that so should you.

I have been working at AutoZone

    Pros

Team atmosphere, decent discount, work with college students schedules, ability to learn some of the difficult task of working with cars.

    Cons

I know that there is a moderate turnover rate mainly because of hours or how their sales associates are treated when new positions are available. They should promote more from within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within more, When regular sales associates are having to teach new managers about the computer systems and how to do certain operations within the store it is a slap in the face to those that have been there for a while.
