I have been working at Autodesk full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

The employees want to build cool software that customers want and dedicate their days to achieving this goal. They do provide good salary and great benefits

Cons

Autodesk is becoming a Software holding company, buying up competition and relegating their older portfolio to maintenance mode. The management tends to blame the worker and not other managers for missing margins and lays off workers without thinning the ranks of management. The result is a top heavy company with alot of management and noone to actually execute the plan.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop thinking that the fastest way to meet the stock markets expectations is to lay off the people who do the work and instead articulate your vision and allow more than 3 months to execute. Also, please stop reorganizing the management staff, this is the fastest way to kill innovation when the employees don't know who is supposed to lead them.

I have been working at Autodesk full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

My colleagues are brilliant and hardworking individuals. There are many different types of projects to work on. Six-week sabbaticals every four years are nice. Autodesk has a bright future for delivering great products to creative individuals around the world.

    Cons

No additional vacation days for longer employment. Teams working on specific initiatives, features, or products are largely local so advancement outside a particular group, generally means relocation.
