I have been working at Autodesk full-time

Pros

- Brilliant coworkers
- Inspiring customers
- The ability to help shape the future
- Benefit packages
- Cutting edge technology.

Cons

Autodesk in in the middle of a transition. As the older generation starts thinking about retirement, it's time to start shifting to be welcoming to the younger generations. The stability is appealing but not the "chained to the desk" mentality.

Innovate from within.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Autodesk is a good company but many people feel overworked. Consider two weeks of rest - one in winter and one in summer. Do what's good for your people, not just the customers.

I have been working at Autodesk full-time for more than a year

    Pros

What our customers are doing with our products is really inspiring. Workload is 9-5 kinda work day and that is the reason why Autodesk has a relatively good employee retention.

    Cons

Totally uninspiring leadership (below Carl Bass that is): politics prevails over efficiency. Mediocracy is deep down in the culture. Intrapreneurship is not valued at all. Compensation totally off market, by far.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Learn about meritocracy!

I worked at Autodesk full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people doing the actual work. Most are highly committed to the products they are making and the industries they are serving. Lots of great ideas.

    Cons

    Constant reorganizations
poor communication up and down the management chain
    little opportunity for advancement
a tendency to throw the baby out with the bathwater every time there is some new direction
lots of internal politics by managers trying to please their managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Calm down
    Respect experienced staff
Empower your brilliant people. Give them more autonomy and responsibility rather than smother them with layers of approvals and reporting.
Stop spending thousands to feel like you are saving money when you are only saving hundreds
