I have been working at Autonation Toyota Scion

Pros

Clean store and employees were nice

Cons

Pay only started at $9.00 an hour. They couldn't tell me what shift I would be working.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn how to interview and at least send an email or call after the interview. Also don't tell applicant you will get me a higher hourly pay. Don't lie.

I worked at Autonation Toyota Scion full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked with a great group of people. My teammates took me under their wing when they seen I was struggling. Even when they skated on me it was a lesson. I got skills to go o to my next car sales job with much better pay.

    Cons

Where do I begin? Extremely long hours. I knew it was going to be that way but 70+ hrs. a week for minimum wage is not what I expected. The first couple of months of training pay wasn't bad but, with so many hours you quickly went into the whole where you owed them back money when you went on commission. If your Survey score went below a certain percentage your commission went from 20% to 16%. Mini deals are only $100 and you would need at least 12 of them before you received a bonus ($750). There are all kinds of charge backs from done deals and the commission you thought you got they take part of it back. Compared to the new company I am working at Autonation trains you poorly and pays less than average. It's good for getting your feet wet and moving on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just training me to say Hello and here is you price is not enough. And my "mentor " taught me nothing but how to make copies and run her tasks. Get a better training Structure and solid pay plan

I worked at Autonation Toyota Scion

    Pros

you only have to work days, with the latest shift ending at 7 pm. That leaves you time to have some type of life/work balance. You learn a great deal of basic accounting, No Sundays, at my location...I never got a full weekend off since they changed that policy after I was hired, department lead is very flexible with day off request, and will even allow you to have a Monday off following your usual Sunday off (since the service dept is closed that day), Free lunch on Saturdays (at my store anyway), discount on car repairs and purchases

    Cons

Some stores can be very "clique ie" , meaning a lot of employees there are married to each other, friends with each other, etc...so if you aren't quite part of the crowd, you may end up feeling like the odd man out, they don't exactly pay a livable wage, training is good and thorough, but you have to pick up on it pretty quickly since this is a high volume dealership, management tends to drag their feet with decision making, management will bend over backwards for butt kissing employees...but the brown nosers are STILL not happy. Some locations....if you are not Hispanic....you will not fit in, the departments that consist of all females can be catty an backstabbing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Apply the same rules to EVERYONE, not just a select few, follow up on your promises,
