I have been working at Autonomy

Pros

Good salary, very lean and efficient. Well managed. Very centralized decision making. Makes it fast and responsive to changes especially for acquisitions.

Cons

Work your ass off. Call you on weekends or late at night. If you are not at good terms with the key people, your life can be a hell.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open up to globalization guyz. The companies are becoming transnational now-a-days where they can leverage the relative advantages in each country to the success of the company. The management would just not understand the cultural and political differences between countries.

Good Compensation, Excellent Benefits - But be prepared to work long, hard hours. Communication is poor.

    Pros

The work is interesting, the salary is good, the benefits package excellent.

    Cons

Many employees are overworked, communication within the company poor, even within individual teams

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More communication, more team-building neccessary. Nurture the new hires - especially the ones straight out of college - more and don't drive them nearly as hard.

Unprofessional, inexperienced, poor communication, and run similar to a start-up without the excitement.

    I worked at Autonomy

    Pros

If you're an Oxford or Cambridge graduate then you will be accepted here so maybe a good place for a first job. As a sales rep, the pay is good assuming you're gifted with decent leads.

    Cons

The company culture is very poor, there is no management hierarchy, no employee recognition, zero communication from management, and a default setting of zero trust towards its employees. The organisation has zero management/hierarchy due to lack of trust and therefore any decisions right down to travel approval require endless cycles of administration. No frills travel, expect to fly EasyJet or RyanAir by default and no consideration for employees travelling all day, or having to get out of bed at 4.30am to get an easyjet flight. Cost comes before employee satisfaction. Also, due to the high-attriction rate, there are no domain experts, only generalists which means that each sales or presales employee has to work unnecessarily harder to lack of vision/foresight. Don't expect a BlackBerry, if you want one, then you'll have to buy it yourself, as well as configure it yourself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Incorporate a standard policy of equipment, rather than providing IT professionals with £200 laptops purchased from PC world on an ad-hoc basis. 2. Empower employees (especially presales/sales). 3. Provide BlackBerry's rather than second hand mobile phone devices. 4. Remove the blame culture. 5. Investment & training in employees.
