Excellent Company but microscopic management.

I have been working at Autonomy

Pros

Good salary, very lean and efficient. Well managed. Very centralized decision making. Makes it fast and responsive to changes especially for acquisitions.

Cons

Work your ass off. Call you on weekends or late at night. If you are not at good terms with the key people, your life can be a hell.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open up to globalization guyz. The companies are becoming transnational now-a-days where they can leverage the relative advantages in each country to the success of the company. The management would just not understand the cultural and political differences between countries.

    I worked at Autonomy

    Pros

um, that's a difficult one. The (junior) people in the company are top-notch: bright, talented, but tragically exploited. The technology is better than most

    Cons

pretty much the whole thing: the culture imposed from the management is bullying and Machiavellian; blame is passed down the ranks to the most junior members; the pay structure is opaque and phoney; and the employee development opportunities are non-existent. Expect to be unhappy, underpaid and undertrained; all while working (average) 12 hour days minimum five days a week. And you will have your holidays canceled at the last moment for no reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well done on getting the company so far; now it's time to hand-over to an experienced team who can turn it into a genuine long-term FTSE 100 company and fix the culture and long-term staffing shortages. Loosen up on the reins a little

I will be surprised if you can find a company that has a worse culture than Autonomy

    I worked at Autonomy

    Pros

The co-workers are friendly and good to work with. Technology is ahead of other competitors. Their business model is good for share holders.

    Cons

No promotion, no raise unless you threaten to leave the company. Do not see how someone can develop a career path. Random lay off happens once in a while even the company is doing well. They like to make up excuses. No communication from upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should take some time to learn people management skills. Maybe you are the one who found the company, but upper management is just lacking the skill and experience to manage a company!
