I have been working at Avago Technologies

Pros

Great colleagues. Initial salary during recruitment is slightly higher than most companies. Flexible time to clock in for work. Will be able to learn how to complete work with the slimmest of budget.

Cons

Low morale among lower rank employees are common due to lack of acknowledgment in their work and complete apathy by their manages. Management not interested in cultivating engineers who has ideas to improve work life and designs. No budget to even do the simplest of R&D project or to improve even improve the system even if the root causes are known.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop telling lies to your employees. And stop cursing during meetings. Nobody likes a vulgar leader who threatens their employees.

I have been working at Avago Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Avago purchased LSI Logic Storage group in 2014. LSI front office management, marketing and architecture team was let go, resulting in a relatively flat management organization. That's a plus. OEM customer business remains strong. Engineers are involved in key projects for the biggest names in the server market. New Avago upper management (the CEO) is very engaged and supportive of LSI products and projects. Budgets are realistic; you can purchase what you need to do your job.

    Cons

Product schedules are very aggressive, but realistically targeted to OEM and industry product releases. Typically driven by Intel futures. Quality management and software metrics are unfortunately driven to excess, often counter productive. Software tool infrastructure is often too restrictive as well. Needs to be replaced with modern tools.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It remains to be seen how LSI benefits will change when merged with Avago benefits in 2015. Eyes are watching.
