I worked at AvalonBay full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Many great benefits as compared to other firms. Organization does try to remain true to hiring from within.

Cons

Action taken against employees is often very sneaky and underhanded. The wide path of the organizations policies foster a culture of taking only business minded action without considering all circumstances of the associate. While this is true of most companies, this one seems to work more frequently in this manner and associates are not given a fair opportunity to rebut or explain.

    I worked at AvalonBay

    Pros

People were fun to work with. Could work from home during weekends rather than having to go into office to catch up on work. Enjoyed working for immediate supervisor.

    Cons

High turnover. Management not really interested in reducing high turnover. Caused moral issues with staff involved in constantly training new personnel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More planning before implementing changes including trial runs. Assign people to specifically work on implementation of new software of processes, not to do it in addition to regular job.
