I have been working at Avanade full-time for more than a year

Pros

Opportunities to grow your career by working on large scale projects at big companies. Can be staffed on an Accenture team which is a further opportunity to learn. Not all work is technical delivery, some is pure consulting which for technical people is a chance to move up.

Cons

If you're staffed on a technical delivery project be prepared for 75/25 offshore/onshore ratio; in this scenario you will work 16 hour days to keep delivery on schedule. Don't bother if you can't swing a 100% travel schedule including trips to India; Avanade has a wide reach and Accenture wider still.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer incentive based pay to solution architects who do the heavy lifting on writing proposals and winning new work.

I have been working at Avanade full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It is a great place to grow your career. You get to work in many industries and get a good understanding of how different businesses operate, for better or worse.

    Cons

I feel that once you get to a certain point in your career, there is no more up unless you leave. Career Management is poor.

I worked at Avanade full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Opportunities to work on medium to large scale projects. You will learn a lot and develop both technical and soft skills if you work hard at it.
    - Travel which can be a good or a bad thing.
    - Good exposure to Microsoft products.
    - Training opportunities for improving technical and soft skills. I enjoyed flying to Seattle to attend the in person trainings. Avanade also covers the cost for taking certification exams.
    - Free MSDN Subscription
    - Yearly $2000 allowance to spend on things that could help with work/life balance such as Gym membership, electronic items etc.

    Cons

    - Greatly influenced by the parent company Accenture. Most large projects come from Accenture so sometimes you don't feel that you are directly contributing.
    - Lack of focus on people and more on meeting annual sales targets. Lots of times consultants are put in staff augmentation projects where they are not able to fully utilize their skills and experience.
    - Salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on people and building the direct business and allowing the opportunities where consultants can directly contribute, learn, and grow their career.
