I have been working at Avaya full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Books are cooked as to not pay employees because the company did not make their financials but then they spend millions or a billion in Nortel's case to purchase other companies, this is wonderful for Avaya.

Cons

Vice presidents and above are dysfunctional and clueless.
Main objective is to layoff American workers and offshore jobs
Continually outsourcing of jobs
No bonus year after year
Radical cut to benefits
No salary increase year after year
Constant layoffs
Huge 6B debt from owners
No 401K match
No training
No money for tools
No money for office supplies

    Pros

    Great technology for a phone company. Best in class Call Centers

    Cons

    Pretends to be very transparent. After the acquisition of Nortel, it was Red vs Blue internally. Management only focused on cost cutting.

    I have been working at Avaya full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Technology Leader. Tight link with customers who are, generally, very happy.

    Cons

    HR BS. They are constantly cutting away at employee benefits. They have artificial employee inclusion programs for highly rated staff, but each month the CEO gets us and tells us different reasons people have been fired. No kidding. He has an all hands meeting every month, and always finds an excuse to mention why he has fired someone either recently or in his past. And the HR organization follows the same caring culture.
