Really bad channel leadership

I have been working at Avaya full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great temporary place to work, if you have no other job offers and desperate for work... Take the Avaya job, keep looking and quit within the year. Fire them before they burn you out and under pay you. Don't give them that opportunity.

Cons

Being on the sales side of the house when you get up in the morning you are all alone. Tired deadbeat partners consisting of ex-Avaya folk basically either semi-retired or simply just not that good. Channels leaders guzzling energy drinks prior to Sr. Leadership meetings and talking a high energy game about program after program claiming success by measuring channel managers performance by how many trainings they do per quarter as an example instead of reporting new business generated as in competing and winning non-Installed base current customers. The reality is the channel is just sitting there servicing an installed customer base and there is literally no new business being generated by them. The last couple years have really took a turn to the worse yet the most Sr. Leadership is clueless that the channel is the problem. If you are full of energy ready to kick some butt and sell like crazy this is the wrong company for you in any field sales position including field engineering and channel management. This is a very underwhelming company to work for....

Advice to ManagementAdvice

No sales strategy is going to be effective with the current lack of channel leadership. Channel Mgrs are not being measured on new business creation only bogus lunch and sleep training sessions for partners that are not capable of competing in the marketplace for business against the competition.... Demand from your channel leadership how much closed business was hunted and found only by the partners... Take that number, verify it with the sales team and then divide it by the number of Avaya sales reps and you will quickly see bottom of the industry ratios. No top sales rep wants will stay in this environment where you have to do all the heavy lifting and then close the deals for the partners as well not to mention poor pay plan.

    None other than it is a job

    Cons

    Lots.
    In the most recent ALL HANDS call the CEO Kevin Kennedy said "If you dont like it get out".
    This company has continued to demonstrate that it does not care about its employees. KK's comments above show that. In addition 2 weeks before Christmas Avaya AGAIN had more layoffs! Really right before Christmas, you couldn't wait?

    Layoffs at Avaya have been a monthly item and continue about every other week. It is truely sad to see so many great people me let go.
