I worked at Avaya full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Long term associates knowledge of the business
Strong Services business
Good Products though roadmaps unclear

Cons

Transient Senior Leadership - too focused on the next outside Exec who doesn't know the communications industry let alone the business - mucks up their patch and leaves 1-2 years later
Lack of trust in long term associates who have performed and can turn around the business
No incentives to stay

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to basics - listen to customers, create desirable roadmaps linked to growth/profitability, reinvest in current/long term associates to turnaround our business

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Westminster, CO
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Westminster, CO

I have been working at Avaya full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work ethics/culture for most part, technology is bleeding edge in some areas, sometimes too new for the market.

    Cons

company struggles with revenues, hence very short term numbers oriented currently. Decisions is driven by financial numbers rather than project/skill needs and long term vision.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee retention is not high on the list of values. There are no incentives for employees to stay any more. The technology is such that you need people with experience and historical background in RnD and product management to be most effective. Don't see that happening which will create a big gap and technological advances and competitiveness will be affected. Even if not for the rest of the company, product development and product management should have employee retention incentives.
