I have been working at Avon Products full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Everyday is different with the people you work with and helping them with their businesses. Bonuses and time to build your schedule are the best portions of the job. Having the flexibility to work the business you see best is empowering.

Cons

Constant recruiting numbers of growing the business with new people instead of developing sales from within. Having so many job responsibilities but only have recruiting new representatives really matter is a constant balancing act.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The two week selling cycle could be adjusted to a three week selling cycle like in Europe where the company seems to be more profitable. The shipping schedule with abilities to have it tracked all the way to the door via UPS instead of our own contracted companies that work part time could be more price effective and responsible.

    Pros

    Health Benefits Packages
    Product Discount
    Ability to work remotely

    Cons

Extremely high turn over. Seems like its not your talent or experience level its only who you know in order to be able to advance. Current Managers have lack of experience and decision making is not strategic. Due to high turn over there is a lack of transitioning knowledge and causes work to be redone.

Depending upon the department there is also a culture of passing blame to other parties.

I worked at Avon Products full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Entrepreneurial, wonderful people, gratifying work to help women and men achieve financial success, support a great cause - Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence.

    Cons

Hard to advance in some departments, antiquated technology, in-ability to listen to employees suggestions to change

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become more agile to address technology changes and trends in market place more quickly. Put some money and focus behind some core products instead of creating millions of one hit wonders. When I left, the old Avon atmosphere of being a friendly place to work where Avon really cared and listened was almost totally gone. That was one of the BEST reasons to work for Avon in the past. Now it has become just a churn of robotic employees.
