Great company, but sad the Springdale facility had to close.

Pros

Avon has a great group of people to work with! Most of us have remained close even after the building closure.

Cons

The shutting down of facilities and moving of manufacturing to China and Mexico. The scandal surrounding the old CEO. The inability to change the selling model to fit current buyer demands.

Advice to Management

It is incredibly frustrating to see upper management 'thriving' and receiving high salaries, bonuses, benefits while facilities are closing and being outsourced.

    Pros

Insurance benefits, company car/gas, free product and the aspiration to inspire women to own a profitable business

    Cons

This company changes direction with the whims of your leaders' hormones. Avon's fill rate capacity is less than 50%, and continues on a 4 year downward trend. Too much payroll spent on duplication of field staff: Field training managers that are never in their assigned market or working to support field teams and representatives, Divisional Managers that sit at home offices and phone in directives. Don't believe the hype about an autonomous schedule: your DVM will mandate that you have to work every weekend (yes, Sundays too), nights and dismiss any PTO request if you're not her favorite and not achieving 100% of your 15 KPIs.

    Advice to Management

Free up some capital and look at your field team's travel expenditures. Do you really need the overlap of DSM, FTM and DVM? How about directing some of those savings towards filling the reps orders so they can actually earn money from direct selling and not MLM? Admit that the direct selling model is dead, the only was the reps can earn $ is to recruit more people into their downline.
