I worked at B. E. Smith full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Like most of the people that work / have worked at this company, I was drawn in by the image and perks that this company projects. However, this is a thin veil for rampant favoritism, shameless promotion of incapable mid-level managers, and a "work til you drop" expectation.

I do believe that Doug, the CEO, is well meaning and was a great leader and mentor for a huge number of employees. However, in recent years he has been hoodwinked by Senior Management, and is no longer in touch with the perception of the company culture that a huge number of his employees hold.

Cons

This company allows inexperienced managers to act out personal vendettas against fellow employees. Although it did not directly affect me, in my tenure I saw multiple cases of constructed dismissal, usually of people that did not conform to the "healthy" (read: thin) standard that has been fabricated by the Operations team. There was no job security at this company, the company culture was toxic, and the general mission and vision of the C-level team was morally bankrupt.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

CEO needs to reinvest in the company and have one on one time with long-serving employees, if there are any left! Creating a "mini-Cerner" culture is not a good thing, and you should avoid this if you wish to retain your top talent!

I have been working at B. E. Smith as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

    The net pay is appropriate.

    Cons

The senior management will say or do almost anything to secure contracts/increase profits. Values driven, long and short term outcomes are collateral damage. Helping clients achieve sustainable, mission driven success, building the capability of the firm and the field, or engaging and fully utilizing their own workforce are not priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To become trusted advisers you must behave in a trustworthy manner. This begins with how you treat your own employees. They are not enemies to be "controlled" but rather assets to be engaged, mined, and motivated. Have you examined your attrition rate? Have you looked at your competition? What do you bring to the table that other newer, more innovative firms are not bringing along with so much more. It is too bad, you have all the ingredients for success.

    I worked at B. E. Smith

    Pros

One of the larger interim leadership companies in the US. Met and spoke with a large number of very skilled interim leaders in the US.

    Cons

A very clique company. The culture is a very young and growing company. If you fit in great and good place to work. There is little to no advancement opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

growth should be internal as well as new clients. Not enough communication and disconnection between management and staff. If you are working, fine, otherwise its very silent on what is happening.
