I have been working at BC Hydro as an intern for less than a year

Pros

Flexible hours, (relatively) high pay, excellent benefits even for temporary employees. Fair hiring process, and positions are quite flexible.

Cons

There is a lot of red tape that you have to go to. Work is relatively slow paced and laid back compared to private sector. Even got boring at some points. Senior Management are rarely engineers but are rather government lackeys.

I worked at BC Hydro full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits and above average compensation (for the local market), capable and intelligent workforce.

    Cons

High management to employee ratio. Talent is squandered by lack of attention to the "human element - the number of human resources specialists notwithstanding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce management and human resources department by 50% and develop a true succession plan for all professional ranks.

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
