I have been working at BCBG part-time

Pros

- Discount is okay, considering the rip off all of the customers are getting for the overly high priced merchandise. Employee discount is 50% on 7 or 8 items (don't remember specifically) a month. Management discount is 70%. Every few months there are special "packages" where employees can get 75% on 4 extra items.

Cons

-HIGH TURN OVER- with employees AND management. - whether or not you enjoy your work environment is completely determined by the manager you have. -Employees do NOT get paid enough for the things that the company expects them to do.

Advice to Management

To head office and district managers: Choose your managers wisely. Because if you don't, you may lose a lot of valuable employees.

I worked at BCBG part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were nice, it's a respected brand, and the clothes are great.

    Cons

Even if you sell $50,000 in a month, you will probably commission $0 due to their unusual "Versus" system, where you get paid the min. wage/hr and only 3% commission, so at the end of the month, if you make a ton of sales, you only get paid the difference. It sounds fair on paper, but in practice, it's a nightmare. Basically, you could make a ton of sales from certain clients in a small amount of time, but then you are scheduled to work your full shift (and sometimes take others' shifts, do floor sets, etc.), and all of those hours of working actually work AGAINST your commission bc you basically could just collect a check for $1,000 without all of the extra exhaustion, hassle, and stress, but they keep you there and at the end of the month, you think you're going to get a big pay day and you end up getting nothing and they tell you that this is fair and no other company would pay you any better. As a note to future potentials, other companies give their employees GREAT discounts also, plus better commission, and you wouldn't have to spend your entire paycheck just to buy 2 dresses. It's the structure of the company. There's nothing the Managers can even do about it bc it's the higher ups. Also, the people that come in from Corporate LOVE their job bc they aren't abused like the people in the stores. The people from Corporate ironically come in to the stores to be STYLED by the stylist in the stores because a lot of them have no clear fashion sense of their own and need to be told what to wear and how to wear it--and yet, these are the people who are "in charge" of the fashion. Also, a co-worker tipped off about double checking your time cards bc they have been known to be "magically" changed before a paycheck to show LESS hours than what you may have actually worked so that employees can "technically" stay "part-time" by working 39 hours instead of 42.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason why good employees don't stay long--take up this matter with YOUR management to restructure so that good employees are being treated right and appropriately compensated for what they bring to the company.

  2. If you're looking to move up within the company this isn't a job for you.

I have been working at BCBG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As far as I see there are no pros besides just having a job and being hired on hirer than minimum.

    Cons

I have worked for the company for about three years now and just recieved a raise. The company's focus is not to promote within but to recruit from the outside. The company doesn't take time to coach and motivate their employees. The technology used to run the store is outdated and insuffecient to the stores needs.
