Pros

Amazing Clothing Discount; fun upbeat culture, lots of room to learn about fashion, plenty of corporate opportunities. good compensation package but you have to negotiate with your fists up.

Cons

they WILL low-ball you for pay, you are not set up for success off the bat, your management team is EVERYTHING that will make or break the store, young girls want to work there for the image but they are not always equipped with the know how to make big things happen.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't go on looks alone when your hiring, young and cute does not equal good sales or styling skill; the company is high-end casual/designer gone commercial but the low-ball pay strategy will make quality talent walk away.

I worked at BCBG part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Beautiful product, beautifully designed store, full timer discount is very generous. Other sales associates are generally very nice. Luckily management did not insist on wearing heels for an 8 hour shift. Good with scheduling. Easy interview.

    Cons

Unrealistic sales goals with very little training. Once the assistant manager set my sales goals as $1200 per hour....at 9am on a Monday, not during a holiday either. An hour later she stated her disappointment with my performance, though we'd only had three people wander into the store in the last hour.

Impossible to get commission, maybe commission affects management compensation? It seemed convenient management would schedule more people on the sales floor right before commissions were due so no one hits their goals or gets commission.

Only a half hour break on an 8 hour shift. High turnover. Unclean environment. Unsafe, space issues and heavy objects were stacked unsafely on high shelves. Always the last store in the mall to close. 12am, 1am closing shifts are the norm. Poor technology/cash out systems. Felt like a high end sweatshop.

Beautiful product but poorly constructed....often product is falling apart on displays. Quality problem.

It was common knowledge that everyone, including the assistant managers, were looking for jobs elsewhere. In fact it was a topic discussed at lunch where we would give each other leads.

Managers are under pressure for goals also. At the end of the day when they don't reach their goals, they look to their team and say.....we're behind $600 on our goals. Who wants to buy something?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your sales staff more to reduce turnover. You pay them a pittance and expect them to know everything about the product, move heaven and earth for the customer, and dress like they make $140K, all without the opportunity to grow within the company.

Make better product, pay attention to seaming and zippers on dresses and pilling on sweaters. Invest in better technology for the stores.

Fire your current COO, as their policies and goals are NOT trickling down to an increased level of customer satisfaction.
