Pros

Healthcare is covered by the company.

Cons

Company culture does not promote professional growth for employees. Management does not appreciate staff. The company does not manage or allocate resources in an effective manner. The company has very few engineers or technologists on staff. Client needs' are not communicated to staff in an efficient or effective manner. Employee and company work products suffer as a result. Mid-level managers are young and inexperienced. Communication at the company is inconsistent and confusing. The company asks its employees to work on business development during work hours. This request also extends beyond business hours, unpaid. Professional growth opportunities are available, but limited, depending on your standing within the company.

    Pros

Interesting subject matter - cutting edge policy and technology areas Opportunities for staff that are creative, sharp and self starters Management cares about employees Emphasis on fairness Tries to promote from within Stable company (in business 20+ years) Plenty of opportunity for professional and personal growth if you put in the effort

    Cons

Lack of public transportation to HQ office Growth has presented challenges but management tries to address them quickly Often a very busy environment and because staff are spread out it can be a challenge. Although busy is a good thing in the current economy. Not a place for those that like highly structured and bureaucratic corporate environment (this is a pro for some a con for others)

    Advice to Management

Continue engaging staff in the growth of the company. This gives them opportunities to grow personally and professionally. Continue listening to employee concerns, get engaged and address where appropriate.

    Pros

    - Provides opportunities for young professionals, particularly those who have recently graduated from college, to begin a career in government contracting - Great stepping stone for new careers and for those with an interest in content related fields - Small company feel, certainly not just "a number" - Offers hands on experience working directly with government clients

    Cons

    - Job postings did not accurately reflect the work expected to be performed - Compensation was well below that of comparable positions with firms in the metro DC area ($10-25k below) - Employee compensation was tied to the amount of funding individual employees accrued for the company above accolades and reviews from government clients - Limited room for professional development and career advancement within the company in accordance with recognized accomplishments and skills - Employees were expected to solicit new and continued funding on behalf of the company with no additional compensation - Management style operated under negative reinforcement philosophy providing little incentive or reward for improvement

    Advice to Management

Value and reward employees appropriately for the work that they perform in order to build loyalty and reduce the high turnover rate.
