BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Franklin Lakes, NJ

ProsNice campus, decent benefits, competitive pay, socially conscious company

Cons-Still trying to push a false image of a company with worklife balance, when that ended about 10 years ago
-Responding to passive aggresive emails is 85% of your job. It is a companywide obsession. The rest of the time is weeding through archaic computer systems and file cabinets and attending unproductive meetings.
-A culture that is focused on "knowledge is power". This place should have a special episode of Hoarders dedicated to it. You find out people are stashing valuable historical data on their hard drives so that they will always be the "go to person", while moaning how overworked they are and they so desperately want help.

Advice to Senior ManagementSadly, this is not the place for mid-level career professionals to hang their hats. While management is aware they need to leap into the 21st century and bring in saavy professionals to transform the company, they are unable to retain these people due to the "lifers" that chase them out. Management is too busy managing up, so there is little support (or protection) for new hires to act as the change agents that they swear up and down they want to have. So new hires either assimilate and lose the skills that got them the job in the first place or they simply leave after a year. Out in the open market, when someone sees a one year stay at BD on a resume, there is always a "say no more" wave.

Senior Financial Analyst (Former Employee) Franklin Lakes, NJ

I worked at BD full-time for more than 3 years

Pros: Good location and many competent people. Will definitely learn… Cons: Low promotion opportunities, extensive layoffs, low pay (compared to market) for non senior management. With my skill… Advice to Senior Management: Pay your employees fairly and be honest. The employees… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More

Okay Place to Work, But Nothing to Brag About

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) San Jose, CA

I have been working at BD full-time

Pros: Most employees are nice to work with. Weight room available (extra fee), cafeteria with… Cons: One of the company values is "doing what is right," but of course it doesn't necessarily apply if it means slowing down production, or when… Advice to Senior Management: Update the original building. Decor is so old it's… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend More
