Former Employee - Global Business Systems Manager in Franklin Lakes, NJ

I worked at BD full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Salaryies are OK, benefits are good but slowly eroding, good products and market position, room to grow your career, (but not as much as there used to be).

Cons

Management is top heavy with VPs and do-nothings, outsourcing is becoming an issue. HR is useless and becoming more so. Lack of managerial courage at most levels.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enough with the VPs already. Start sharing the profits with your associates or be prepared to lose the best of them.

I worked at BD full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good steady income and benefits. Excellent work atmosphere, takes great care of employees, allows for good work-life balance. Friendly people. Sincere in intent to help all people live healthy lives.

    Cons

Slow to change. Several very complex internal business systems with bureaucratic layers and committees result in generally wise but always slow (extremely slow) decision making. Low-tech products and slow adopt new technologies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide more inspiration than guidance.
