I worked at BD full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Market Share and backlog orders.Also, manufacturing in house- rare to find for US company

Cons

Leadership split on key issues- only take issue on hand- if they can win, otherwise employee has to handle tough issues

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take issues on hand- that you loose, but right for the group and employee

    Pros

    The people are motivated. Most of the people have a skill set. Everybody is working towards a similar goal. Upper management listens to ideas even if they suck. Employees are always trying to improve safety.

    Cons

    Basic corporate issues; low budget, IT outsourced to India, etc.

    I have been working at BD full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Very smart colleagues
    - Good workl/life balance
    - Pay is reasonable
    - Good benefits
    - 401k match *and* pension

    Cons

    - FDA regulated, so very bureaucratic
    - Decisions take a long time to be made and then aren't communicated clearly
    - Management won't examine the underlying causes of poor departmental performance.
    - Management rewards optimism over competence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Do the right thing instead of hanging banners that say "We do the right thing".
