Current Employee – been working at BD
Pros – BD is an ethical company that is making an effort to be more diverse and more in touch with a younger generation.
Many, not all, managers are in tune with their direct report's needs to maintain a work/life balance.
Cons – It is difficult to get promoted to a Director level or above. More often than not, these positions are filled by outside hires. You're better off leaving and coming back in a higher position.
They go through firing / hiring cycles that are demotivating (e.g., laying off 10-20 people in a particular job group, and within 6-12 months, posting positions for hire in the same group).
If you are a favorite of the VPs, you are allowed to practice bad behaviours with your direct reports and general management activities.
Advice to Senior Management – Promote internally more aggressively and implement more standardized assessment and selection tools.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
