I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time

Pros

They will support almost any formal training you have identified. Line Management expects even young engineers to consistently deliver

Cons

Some older engineers are too stuck in their ways. Inovation is sometimes turned down if it is perceived as too cumbersome.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be clear & reasonable about your expectations.

I worked at BHP Billiton full-time

    Pros

BHP does have some good benefits

    Cons

Company does not seem to care about employees. Felt like I did not matter. Right hand does not know what left hand is doing.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time for less than a year

    Pros

above average benefits for now. van pool is paid by the company, but it is not easy to do because of so many meetings and late hours you have to work. It was not easy to start a van pool.

    Cons

very slow process for almost everything; need approval for almost anything. computer network has been so slow that you cannot really do much serious seismic work; micromanaged; single minded, very little lateral collaboration.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

simplify the process, rule, and empower your people before they leave.
