I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Above average compensation/benefits compared to other Oil and Gas companies. Excellent bonus structure. Company seems to be very employee focused with a goal of attracting and keeping top talent. The cafeteria and $2 lunch are awesome!

    Cons

Seem to be experiencing some growing pains. The shale division was formed basically from acquiring Petrohawk as well as a Chesapeake field. Transition and development of processes is ongoing. Technology and tools to do your job seem to be lagging behind the times and other companies. Getting software to do your job is a nightmare since it has to go through several layers to be allowed on your machine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees and keep them informed of why they are being asked to do something. Need an upgrade on personal computers and software.

I have been working at BHP Billiton full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits and fair wages. Offices were some of the best in town.

    Cons

Hive mentality, closed all satellite offices that were acquired from another company acquisition, shipped all the jobs to Houston to a single headquarters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think twice next time about consolidating and centralizing when you have excellent skilled workers who will not move to another city. We live in a modern world where people can work from anywhere and still do an excellent job.
