I have been working at BJ's Wholesale Club part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

If you ask for a different position within the company, they try their hardest to put you there, so it's easy to advance.

    Cons

My experiences are probably unique to the store.
    -Poor management
-Not every flexible if you have other responsibilities (i.e: children, school)
-No matter your work experience, you most likely WILL be started off with $8.15 (depending on the job you filled out for).
-Hours are wonderful during the holiday season, very slow throughout the rest of the year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Unify your teams/departments! And make sure people find out their pay rate BEFORE orientation!

Former Employee - Member Services in Manchester, CT

I worked at BJ's Wholesale Club full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-good pay for low income individuals
-great benefits (birthday, bereavement, medical, dental, 401k contribution)
    -great people to work with
-/con- most of the managers used to be regular (non-salary) employees

    Cons

-moving up is only possible if you are "brown noser"
    -uneducated, unqualified and ineffective management
-managers do not work unless there is a VP or Area Manager arriving
-treats employees as if they are worthless when they do most of the work
-company wastes a lot of money on pleasing the customers and a lot of the merchandise is unaccounted for and no action is taken
-managers act like they make so much when most of them complain about how much they can't afford the finer things in life such as a used car
-unfair treatment of employees based on who they are best friends with

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better managers and treat employees fairly.
