BKD presented a great internship experience that exposed me to different industries as well as sizes of clients.

I worked at BKD as an intern for less than a year

Pros

The people are awesome, nice personal cubicles, and great downtown location.

Cons

Wish I could have traveled more. However, other interns traveled quite a lot.

I have been working at BKD

    Pros

They have done a great job training, and walking the walk with what they preach

    Cons

I get paid very little for being an intern and doing the work of full time employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The obvious thing is to pay the interns more, but they do a great job otherwise.

    I worked at BKD

    Pros

Intelligent co-workers, more interaction with partners than at other firms, great benefits and reasonable flexibility in scheduling, built in career advancement

    Cons

Seniors and managers are only thinking about the time budget and don't take time to instruct you or allow you to teach yourself. In my opinion, this is not what a CPA is supposed to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If your main priority is time budgets, but the budgets aren't accurate because everyone is trying to undercut their peers and not get fired, the only people that benefit are the partners, and even that's in the short run. Take a long-term strategic view. As CPAs you should consider every stakeholder, with yourself considered last.
