Pros

BMC Software sells some exceptional products, and can address a lot of pain inside of IT operations. The Cloud Lifecycle Management tools are exceptiona, and at least 18 months ahead of the competition.

Cons

Sometimes you see people that should not be doing the jobs that they are in. They are either unqualified, or incompetent, yet they stay and nobody is forcing them to leave. They also do not take many risks, but risk is inherent in innovation.

Advice to Management

Be a bit more focused on the product and the customer, not necessarily the stock price. If the development org is not able to write stable and functional code, then you should consider drastic changes in that area to shake things up.

    Pros

Competitive pay & benefits Tech company "perks" to stay competitive with Silicon Valley Fast-paced Good technology product Overall, good quality people Flexible work schedule

    Cons

Horrible turnover and no inclination to really fix it and do it right No training No accountability of management or employees Mgrs can't manage their budgets, I wonder how they run their own household Sales org always "wins" on decisions for the good of the company Surprisingly complicated systems and lots of manual work Treatment of employees Major Egos Onboarding Heavy Dir and above level organization Lots of band-aids on issues to get by Incompetent leadership - inconsistent messaging, playing favorites, external hires that are not ready for management As soon as you implement something, no one uses it

    Advice to Management

Stop signing up for every little initiative because you have really overextended yourselves and your employees. Focus on the core things that are going to make a difference and that actually matter. Everyone looks like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Develop your employees, that's what they want! Stop making it just another grinding job where your efforts are continuously wasted.

    Cons

Layoff frequently, disconnect of communication from top down, constant change in direction makes it hard to achieve goals on big projects

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, stop living in an ivory tower
