    I worked at BMC Software full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Worked with a lot of awesome talent on very cool projects. Flexibility to WFH was much more productive and great while it lasted.

    Cons

    WFH can be a two-edged sword if management doesn't pay attention, making you an easy mark for RIF. There is no reward or loyalty for years of above and beyond. The constant cloud of inevitable layoff cycles hanging over everyone impacts morale and motivation. Numbers may look good short-term to shareholders but the company loses in the long run, repeatedly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop reinventing the wheel and making reactive management decisions based on the next quarter's results. Be proactive and value the good people that are actually building your business. Lose the favoritism, politics, and tunnel vision for saving management careers and bonuses at the whim of the boardroom.

    Get involved in different projects
    Flexibility in schedule
    Good People

    Cons

    Terribly Understaffed
    Unreasonable Work Goals
    Favoritism and protection of incompetent staff.
    They do not give raises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You have too many staff members that are not qualified for this positions
    Staffing of IT is awful and expectations are unreasonable.
    You are emphasizing too much outsourcing to PUNE and their is a lot of confusion on who is responsible when issues arise.
    Communication between IT groups needs to get better
